Here's something I picked off ebay the other day. I usually hesitate buying there, but I sniped this key coin for a decent price.
The "scratch" on the obverse field is actually a delamination error. Toning is a little darker than the photo.

G'day, early KG5 silver, in that condition, doesn't often come onto the market.
And, the top grades fetch remarkable prices.
Mostly, one can only just tell which side is which, and the date is a matter of opinion.
I suspect that a lot of the old silver was melted after 1946.
1915 & 1935 were the lowest mintages of KG5 shillings: only 500,000 each.

Thanks Peter!
Yes, I have a few other early coins that are nearly worn flat.
I figured this was an OK deal for $10.

G'day, correction to yesterday's post -
there were two mintages in 1915:
no mintmark, 800,000
"H", 500,000
Renniks says 1915H, VF grade, is worth $500.
You must be laughing ...

Peter, thanks--and my Maccas gives AUD$600 for VF.
Perhaps this is just a mushy strike, but I was thinking aF for my coin.
However it grades, I'm very happy for that price.

Here is a recent sale to compare to Kurt. I would say yours is just a little bit better.

Sean, yes--I would agree...mine probably weighs a little more. Guess I did OK!

Btw--more good news! I took a closer look through the IHCs as I package them off to you,
and I found a DDO and 3 more repunched dates!
