I have this 1919 D Walking Liberty half. Because of condition of a coin this old I wanted to check and see if it's fake. It weighs 14 grams. 1.5 grams too much. It is not attractive to a magnet. It's circumference is 1.25". Then I discovered that the designers initials AW are not on the reverse.I couldn't find anything on the internet about this coin. I did find that there's at least one "Walker" without the designers initials. 1941 D walking Liberty. I don't know if there's any others. I'm not sure if the nines are different

Weight is certainly out of norm, especially for a coin with evident wear. Missing AW could be a grease issue or die polishing, but agree this has an odd look - especially the rims, which should be smooth with the reeding showing just along the outside edge all the way around.

First,

Chinese counterfeits exist for every date and mint of the series. Look closely at "OF AMERICA" on your coin, and you will see the pitting that is common on cast counterfeits.

If you search online for "1919-d" and "walking" and "liberty" and "replica" you will find similar cast counterfeits sold by all the usual sites that flood the market with counterfeits. The photos on those sites usually are doctored to superimpose the word "COPY" on the pictures. Federal law (the Hobby Protection Act) requires "COPY" or "REPLICA" on the actual coin, but very few of the sellers actually comply with the law, because their customer base is people who resell counterfeit coins. You can also go to PCGS.com or NGC.com and compare your coin to authenticated examples.

I very strongly suspect that your coin is a cast counterfeit from China. It has the lack of detail, sharp reeding on the edges, pitting, and inconsistent rim of the counterfeits. A specific gravity test would be quick confirmation.
Rest in Peace

Not a cast counterfeit. Die struck from poor quality spark erosion dies. Did everyone notice those "casting pits" are raised dots?

Everyone likes to jump to the conclusion "cast counterfeit" but for the most part they haven't been making fakes by casting for 30 years. Pretty much every fake out of China for that long has been die struck. Sometimes the dies were cast, but rarely the coins.

Thanks everyone. I did do a search for a replica and found two sites I have bought from. I don't remember buying this but I did have another once that I tried to sell at a coin shop and the guy picked it up and tossed it on the counter and said, "Counterfeit". I found where I bought it and the description had it is a replica but the coin didn't have "Copy" on the coins. I buy mostly from ebay but where I bought it was a site with multiple sellers on it. I'm learning. Gives me something to do in my retirement.

With a lot of those sites, even if they do show COPY on the coin when you receive them they will be unmarked, or you can ask they be unmarked and they will "honor" that request. It's a loophole a lot of the counterfeit manufactures use to pretend to be legitimate. They point to their website where every piece is marked COPY, and say"see everything is marked"
