https://www.ebay.com/itm/184322089360 What is your opinion on this one? Fields look too smooth for one. Seller has 100% feedback but look at other current listings. Several look like they have casting bubbles.

Got to admit it's darn clean, but I don't see anything that raises an alarm. to the CCF!

I think it's been cleaned but real. What listings are you seeing bubbles on?

I agree - genuine. Not sure why anyone would even want to counterfeit that common a date.

Quote: Not sure why anyone would even want to counterfeit that common a date. Maybe because it would be less scrutinized. There are fakes of all kinds out there.

Gincoin43 - Look at the 1860 Seated quarter those look like bubbles to me. Also look at Liberty in the shield. The Shield nickel may just be corrosion pitting but that quarter looks off. I am working in a set of Half Cents and maybe I am just so spooked by all the literature out there on fake coppers. Even common date circulated large cents are being faked or at least that it what I have been reading.

I'd say that's damage on the 1860 quarter. It looks possibly cleaned, though.

The quarter is a bit suspicious but I think I might be stuff that didn't come off when he cleaned it. Most of the coins listed are less than attractive.

First, you don't need to ID the variety. There is only one for 1833 Half Cents. Heavy rim bump in the 10 o'clock area of the obverse. I looked at all the images posted and the last one is quite eye-opening. Either it's not the same coin or the other images have been REALLY photoshopped. If you want one I suggest you look elsewhere.

Actually it is usually a good idea to check the variety, even if there is only one. Many of the counterfeit Half Cents use mismatched obv and reverses. That isn't the case here though, the obv and rev dies are correct for the issue.
