USA 1985 100 Dollars Note - Misalignment Error Value

Neat error! Even neater in that it's on a "C" note!

It is a 2nd printing error referred to as "out-of-registration" printing. The sheet it was printed was a miss-feed into the press during the 2nd printing. (Notes are printed in a three step Printing process).

Most likely there were 31 other notes from the same sheet that were released, too. Chances are some of those other notes have turned up and have been sold at auction. Will try to do some searching later tonight.

Try to get that note into a safe currency holder to prevent handling and damage. If it's uncirculated it's worth a couple of hundred bucks in my opinion.

I saw the $100 error note (misaligned) that sold on ebay for $500. It was a bit more dramatic than yours. I also saw some $100 notes with minor misalignments that sold for under $150. Yours would probably be valued somewhere near the middle and might fetch more if authenticated and encapsulated. With so many fakes out there and buyers getting duped, the plastic adds credence.
