Keep in mind this area is incuse on the coins. Si if it was helped a long with a small screw driver, we would see what I feel this is. An altered coin. What makes me think that? Note the striation lines on the area. It looks like something was used to enlarge these areas and it was flat in shape. But a very small screwdriver. Not a plus for the coin. If this were a zinc cent, we would probably be seeing gray color, but this is a copper cent that was altered.
