Hey just came across this coin today from the bank. Any thoughts on it? Condition? Value? Does it being holed lessen the value?  |

Most likely a counterfeit coin, so the hole in it really doesn't matter. Will need larger photos, to determine authenticity ..

I think when you stumble across a rare coin that is known to have counterfeits, the normal assumption is that it is likely fake. You can start with the overall look, pattern, color, etc to see if it seems right for the age and expected condition. Next you can weigh the coin. This should weigh 26.96 grams...minus some amount for the hole. If the weight is off, it is usually because another metal was used other than the proper silver-copper mix. Finally, you can look at specific authentic die marks and known counterfeit markers to make a determination. Probably some experts on this forum that can talk to that much better than I can. Sometimes it is really easy, like a mint mark that didn't exist for a certain year.

I know little about these, but it seems quite possibly genuine based on some quick photo comparisons. Weight checks out.
Tell us how you came to acquire this from your "bank".
