I am only posting the initials of this coin because I do not want confirmation bias to influence opinions. I want opinions weather or not these initials, the G, has serifs or not. I do a little goofy thing when I get a LMC of these years. I mix the coin in with some other coins of the same year and color, mix them up, look at the reverse initials first then name the year of the coin. The year I thought was wrong. I suck at varieties. Device markers and die stages might as well be Chinese and Sanskrit descriptions. Many of the coins from this roll seem varnished.

Well without the year of the coin, can't determine if the FG initial design matches.

But based on your serif question, I don't see any. I don't think the initials are doubled. Little bit of DDD and that's it.

Thanks CoinTheTerm and SilverCents. I said 1989 before I flipped it, was a 1988.

The FG initial design is normal for a 1988 cent.
