found this nice split while searching some S mint penny's.

Looks more like a lamination issue on this one to me. Note the second split on the bust?

The reverse die is showing very reduced device size on the whole die area. On the 'IN' the 'I' is showing a reduction near the rim. So it was also polished as well.
