@dbroo, I am hoping that you find the folks at CCF patient as our goal is education. This doesn't look like a doubled die, but you may be on to something with that widened mintmark. If it is indeed a repunched mintmark, then it should be listed at varietyvista. Here is a link to get you started:

Agree, appears to be a victim of circulation flattening (and a hit or two). Copper, being a relatively soft metal--is subject to being 'reshaped' through hits and dings.
