Hi everyone! This is my first time posting but I have used this forum to reference threads while looking at coins.

If I'm posting in the wrong place I apologize.

I found this 2018 Nickel that has rings perfectly in line with the lettering on the reverse side of the coin and I was wondering if this could be caused by something in the process of making the coin or if it's just someone's clever hobby? I don't have great pictures I only have my cell phone but I do think they're clear enough to see what I'm referring to. Thoughts?

This is caused by coin wrapping machines, you usually see it more often on cents, but it happens to every denomination. Just PMD unfortunately

to CCF. It is PMD. Coin counting or wrapping or vending machine damage.

Hi Coop - I was looking at your posting of the pictures of Wrapping Machine Damage. (I knew of the circular ones and several others) Thanks - This may explain all the cross cuts I see on old Quarters and nickels. I was wondering what caused those. But I must ask about the third picture from the left - of the Quarter - with the "Checkerboard marks on the corners of the pic. Are those wrap damage too? I have found something similar on VERY old LWC's including along the edge. I would like to see some pics of that kind of damage if that is what they are. Thx again for providing great info
