They just closed a sale with some nice ones in it. Encased postage stamps are available in very limited numbers and avidly collected by both coin and stamp collectors. Report this Post to the Staff

I was at a dealer just the other day and saw two fairly nice ones in the $395-$495 range. Mighty tempting, but I stuck with the hammered English. Here is one example of a J. C. Ayer piece from the The Summit Collection of United States Encased Postage. Take Ayer's Pills, 12c Black (EP12). Stamp beautifully positioned with "U.S. Postage" and "Twelve Cents" labels fully visible, silvering on reverse with the raised letters colored in a golden brown shade, slight scratches on right obverse case tab. This 12c Take Ayer's Pill's has a rarity rating of R-8 (5-10 known) in the Reed census. Report this Post to the Staff
