I would love your opinions on the grade of this coin. This is another coin that was stored in a safe deposit box in the 1950s until literally one month ago.

Assuming it's genuine, I'm going to say this is an AU-58 "commercial unc". Can you give us the weight?

Thanks, Coinfrog! I don't have a scale for this at hand, but I am not questioning the authenticity. The lighting of the photography removed the luster on both the 1901 Eagle and 1876 S Double Eagle, but the coins DO have luster. Thanks for the AU(58) estimation!

We do not have the luxury of having the coin in-hand and grading coins like this by photos is tough.

So, me guesstimate is high AU (55 to 58) to low MS (60 to 63).

Nice Centennial year gold coin no matter what it grades!

Slight, but obvious wear on the high points of the design, both sides.
AU-55.

AU-58 but I've seen worse in MS holders.
