Hi everyone.
I've seen a few online discussions about this penny. Some say it's a mint error and others say the "end legs" to the top roof are from a weak strike/wear. I have a few of these and wondered what the prevalent thinking is.
Thanks!

I've had a few of those and never thought much of them. Maybe I should have.

Mostly a curiosity. Some people will toss 'em, others will keep the better examples in 2x2s for fun and reference.

From a weak strike or an over polished die. I have little to no interest in them and see them as a novelty. Some are also missing the initials FG. John1

with John. Merely die events, I prefer the spike heads over the floating roofs and the "No FGs".

If you search in the search box at the top of every page here in CCF, you can find the many recent discussions we have had on the missing or floating roof. to the CCF!

The floating roofs are much better than the no FGs in my opinion. I'm saying this mainly because I've seen too much hype around the no FGs which causes people to think they're more valuable than they are, or that they are a mint error.
I've come across a few floating roofs, they're alright, worth keeping in tubes. Don't think they're 2x2 worthy but if it's your first one, then go for it.

These just die events. The die was normal, then altered with polishing. PCGS at one time slabbed them, then stopped when they realized they were just too common for a premium. But they still show them on their site. (But no longer slab them)

OK. Thanks to all. I saw that one went on ebay for $100. Special thanks to merclover for the search tip.
