Bought some silver coins for shipment to Texas and lo-and-behold ebay added sales tax to the bottom line! Looks like they have recently changed their interpretation of what "numismatic coins" means! .

This has become a major issue in just the last 10 days. I have started several complaints with ebay but have yet to have any resolved.

Started a complaint, too, this morning. CS rep said it would take "7 to 10 days" to get it resolved and receive credit.
We shall see!

I'm in PA. No sales tax on coins and bullion. I have had the sales tax issue twice in the past week.It not only adds sales tax to the coin but also the shipping. I've also bought a number of coins with no issue. Not sure what's going on.

Still trying to figure out what's going on. You can add coins to your cart and some show tax being added on while others show no tax being added on. Strange, very strange. Hope ebay gets it figured out soon.

I assume ebay has an Army of IT people. Not sure why this isn't fixed in hours.

Not to take the thread sideways, but ebay started collecting sales tax for Georgia 4/1. Apparently it's for everything but coins, which is fortunate.

Just for clarification. This is from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts (The sales tax people in Texas) regarding sales tax exemptions ...
"Sec. 151.336. Certain Coins and Precious Metals The sale of gold, silver, or numismatic coins, or of platinum, gold, or silver bullion, is exempt. This section was added in 1989, and amended in 2013 to remove a $1,000 threshold for the exemption."

Still waiting here, too. ebay said "no worries", but "It'll take 7 to 10 days for a refund to be processed and completed". Still have a few more days to go.

Entering the "7 to 10 day" window that ebay said it would take to resolve this. Crickets are still just chirping along.
