So I have this beautiful 1899 FR.236 silver certificate and upon inspecting the note it appears that there's small waves at the very top the the notes design. What I'm wondering is what would've caused that to happen. Is it too much ink left on the note made it wavy like that of is it water damage. Just looking for thoughts.
Also if anyone has any opinions on the note condition that would be great also...it appears to be in very crisp condition with no folds creases or bends in it.
If any one has any opinions on the cause of the notes waving and what grade you would give the note that would be great... Thanks again!

Very difficult to grade upper level paper money from photos or scans, but yours is no doubt close to new if not so. Those wavy areas are the result of how the paper dried after its wet printing and are a sign of originality, i.e., that the note has not been pressed. Handsome example.

to the CCF!

Welcome to CCF, nice BE.
Like Mr.Frog mentions, it's a paper wave. Desirable today, but not so much in the past. People used to press these notes to remove the wave. The intaglio printing process requires high pressure and by lightly dampening the paper it softened it and made it easier. The BEP would print on side of the sheet and let it dry a couple of days and then re-dampen the sheet and print the other side. Notes appearing perfectly flat in scans can actually have a paper wave if photographed with side-lighting. Here's an example.
