I have this 1979 Canadian cent and the reverse doubling of all four digits of 1979 are doubled and the pic for this reverse is on CoinsandCanada's website. I never really paid a tremendous amount of time to the portrait of Her Majesty on the obverse. There appears to be not only doubling on the back of her hair but also what appears to be a double hairline just below the Crown. It may be part of the design but it's the only one I have seen with this type of doubling. I hope my fellow variety collectors from Canada can help shed some light on this for me. The last pic was borrowed from coinsandcanada.

The doubling on the date of the reverse is just Die Deterioration Doubling, collectable to some in higher grade but pretty common.

What you see on the Obverse regarding the doubled hairline I'm not 100% sure what it may be, but I have about a dozen rolls of 1979 that I will check later today and see if I come up with anything.

Thank you JW. I knew the reverse was DDD. I look forward to what you find!

They all look like that. In 1979, the mint made changes to queen's portrait making it smaller and the design of the tiara was also modified.

Thank you, numidan. I knew in 1979 they went to a smaller portrait of Her Majesty but I have yet to find another with the double line below the Crown

Jim0815, I took a look at the rolls of 1979 and they all look like they are just part of the design.

1979 was a good year, especially for MD and DDD, some coins I found did not have the doubled line but only due to Die Deterioration or over polishing which left the details in the hair/crown non existent to an extent so for now I'm just going to assume it is part of the design unless I find more that compels me to think otherwise.
