Princetane Pillar of the Community 4628 Posts	Posted 03/08/2021 04:49 am Definitely, EF would be all pearls in the crown band sharp, that one has blurred 2nd pearls and only clear diamonds rather than sharps. Still better than my non existent penny. Us non Americans, have issues with the grading not coin. My conversion USA grades - British/Australian and New Zealand real world grade USA MS 65 = Choice UNC MS 63 = UNC MS 60 = really high AU with usual bag marks and rubbing. AU 55 = High EF AU 50 = bare EF/ aEF XF 45 = gVF XF 40 = VF VF35 = aVF or highest Fine VF 20 = bare Fine F12 = VG Report this Post to the Staff
sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21786 Posts	Posted 03/08/2021 06:02 am One of the diagnostics for genuine '23 Ha'pennies is circumferential die cracks. This coin has a small one on the obverse from 'REX' to 'IMP'. About half of the total production for '23 Ha'pennies has evidence of die cracks. It seems that all of the dies for the '23 production were not hardened properly. As a result, most of the 1923 production was carried out using old 1922 dies. That is why the 1923 Ha'penny is scarce.
