Hi all. I'm very new to the hobby and wouldn't know an error if it slapped me in the face, so I'll be harassing you good seasoned folk with a few oddities I've come across, including two commom year Morgan's I've inherited (which is what sparked my interest in the hobby.)

I've not paid much attention to, so this is probably a normal looking 2009 penny, which I've only recently come across.  The reverse is of the 'professional years.' Looking at it from afar and without a loupe I thought Lincoln's face was damaged. There was a lot seemingly going on there texture wise, especially with the beard. It looks different from different angles. When I louped the coin, it looked normal. Does it look normal to you? The eye and lips, the beard and hair just struck me as very busy as compared to others. Thanks!#8206;

Ahh. So there IS something wrong with his face. Good to know there's an explanation for the warts on his forehead and his eye, as well as those crops growing out of his ear :) Thanks for the reply!

Try to get used to holding your coins by their edges between two fingers, had this coin been an error cent (not penny, that's the UK..) even the slightest amount of oils from your palm or fingers can transfer and cause damage, lowering its value. Nothing worst than seeing a mint state or AU coin sporting a fingerprint stain. Also, when taking pictures it's best to set the coin down on a flat/stable surface.

to CCF...enjoy the hobby...aka addiction...
