please grade. I have a couple questions on this coin also.

The date looks like the small version, but the letters look large. Also the weird blob at 11 o clock on the reverse rim.

What's up with this coin?

I'll say AU-55, small date rev. Of 42. Looks to be a rim Cud.
Surfaces seem questionable. Could be lighting, but looks like it had an old cleaning, Devices look like they could have been lightly polished at one point. See what others say.

I'll say AU-50. Handsome example.

Does the Cud affect the value?

Grade looks like high AU. The uniform color suggests the coin was cleaned or dipped long ago and has since toned over. The cleaning (if any) does not look obvious or serious.
The Cud should not hurt the value. Some collectors might like it.
Nice example overall.

A Cud is a mint error, so it is worth more.

Not if you are looking for a problem free example for your collection. It is only worth a bit more to a Cud collector.

I'd say AU-53. Possibly an old cleaning but would likely straight grade. The rim Cud probably won't affect the value for this coin.

AU55, Yes it is a small date and it is a rim Cud. This is a WB-7 variety and is the most common of the 1842 Philadelphia minted halves with a R2 rarity.
