Am I missing anything important, or could I remove a lot of these?

I'm trying to narrow things down a good bit, so that it doesn't take hours to go through 1 roll of coins.

Besides keeping certain ones for my personal collection, which are worth looking for, to sell?

IMO your want/hunt list would be whatever your desires and interests are therefore your lists could be a small book.

I've got a list that I edit frequently. I often become interested in new items after reading a post here. I've got a search list on My ebay that I Frequently search and desired paper currency on the bottom of my master paper currency spreadsheet.

There's basically only a couple specific coins that I want for my personal collection.

The 1996 W dime. I used to have one, but I can't seem to find it so I probably spent it years ago.

The 2005 D speared bison nickel.

A 1955 Double Die penny. I saw a picture of one when I was little and thought it looked really neat. This coin in particular is most likely the reason I got into coin collecting in the first place. I STILL never got to see one in person. I'm not going to buy one.

Edit - Also a 1982 no mint mark dime.

Other than that, I'm just looking for interesting coins, like an extremely broadstruck quarter etc.

Edit - I already have a lot of coins from all over the world and arcade tokens packed away.

I'm trying to remove a lot of the dates from my list and only go for certain ones that are worth a decent bit if I sold them. I just don't know what to remove.

USSID18,

The W quarters would be nice to find, but I'd probably just sell them. I "sort of" have them in the list, where it says (Check the State Quarters), but didn't specify which ones, so that I go through them all.

There's many errors in the State Quarters. Plus seeing all of the new coins that have been made over the last few years, like the satin ones or reverse proof, I might get a couple eventually for my collection as conversation pieces.

Then again, I'm not big into the whole (this coin looks perfect in every way). I'd rather find a really beat up coin in a roll, or on the ground and go... Hmm, I wonder what this coin went through over the years. I bet it has many stories to tell about the past, if it could talk.

Just like these coins that I found http://goccf.com/t/379958

Yes, they all tell a story that's for sure.

A list like that becomes extremely over whelming fast. And you narrowed it down? Several on the list are rare so I'd start with those first as new discoveries occur a few times per year. The 1982 D Lincoln or any of the double mint marls. As for the no S variety, the dimes for example, they only came from mint/proof sets so finding them in rolls is near impossible. Happy hunting and hope you find something to add to the population report!

It is also important to mention that it is Doubled die not double die. List looks good, although I would recommend examining every coin not only for varieties but for errors too. If you find something you think could be a doubled die or a variety, check the attribution sites. Remembering what dates have what varieties is important, but I recommend checking every coin, not only the ones on the list.

Coinhunter27,

I already was checking every coin and going to a few of those sites to look at all of the errors and varieties haha.

I'm just trying to speed up my searching. Once I start remembering a lot of the varieties and errors, it should go much faster.

Or I could narrow it down to a dozen coins or so, but then I'd miss a lot of the others, plus the chance on finding errors that noone else has yet.

It already goes pretty quick with the older coins, but from the year 1996? and on, it really slows down because it's much harder to tell if a coin is DDO because of the single squeeze method.

Usually, if I don't see anything signifigant, I toss it in the pile... Which I end up going through again later anyways, sometimes 2-3 more times, because I keep reading about different errors.

I can't keep them all haha.
