Nice die cracks. Not a huge fan of the discoloration on this one, but I think it straight graded. AU-53

Agree with solid AU detail. The blotchy color could indicate an old cleaning but if so it still has decent eye appeal. If it grades problem free I'd guess AU-55.

Now THERE'S a coin with personality.
Obviously a late die state as evidenced by the die cracks.
And also the metal flow lines out towards the rims.

I like it.

Mint state. Some minor environmental impacts but not enough to bag it. I'll net it out around MS-61. TPG's are kind with really old coins because virtually none exist in a flawless state. These weren't kept in bags like Morgans.

someone got really good eyes if they can see signs of circulation on this one. not sure if she grades straight as the spotty color could be from an old cleaning but old copper tones all different ways. MS62

I like this as a type coin in my collection. Like everyone else I like the "connect the dots" die breaks among the stars--I even like the weird green discolorations. Even the flaws are pretty. I chose this over an MS(63) one with a weird splotch on its obverse field and a much weaker strike. I am happy with my choice.

This is why I love coin collecting. Your holding in your hand a coin that was minted when Fort Barrancas surrendered to Andrew Jackson, and there had been only 5 US presidents.

You can do that with any old coin. I am a history buff, so it may not be the same with others, that is just a hard feeling to duplicate for me anyways..

I'm the same way. I hold a 1861 3 cent piece, and wonder if maybe it was in someone's pocket at Gettybug. Or if that 1874 Trade dollar was maybe used by Wild Bill Hickok to call somebody's bet. I'd really like to get something from 1793-1795, when Washington was president!
