I am new to coin collecting, so I need some assistance in clarification on the 2006 Colorado Silver Quarter. Which mints produced the Silver variety of this coin? What I have found is that the silver is only found from the "S" or San Francisco mint. Is this true? Why I ask is I have a 2006 "P" silver Colorado coin. Yes I am 100% sure it is silver. I have pictures but am having difficulty uploading to the forum.

@skye, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes it can be a little tricky at first uploading pics. The free optimizer can make that process easier. In the meanwhile, can you please post the weight of this coin and why you are convinced that it was made from a silver alloy (i.e. as opposed to be silver-plated by someone with too much time on their hands)?

It is most likely plated, but a weight will be useful as Spence mentioned.

to CCF. Please post photos when you can. The only silver one is from the San Francisco mint. The others were plated, silver, gold and platinum after they left the U.S. mint.

Yes, only SF makes 2006 silver quarters. If it is from P, it is almost certainly plated. Weight will help confirm that.

It likely isn't silver, but it's likely plated in Platinum. The silver quarters are proof finish and done at San Francisco, so they have an S mint mark.

You didn't post a picture to be sure, but I can tell you that the State Quarters and State park quarters were both plated and sold in a marketing ploy to the unsuspecting and there were gold plated sets as well as platinum plated sets.

You can look up gold or platinum plated quarters and see all of them being offered by various companies with P or D mintmarks. all of them are plated, and somione overpaid for them, took them to a coin shop likely, and were offered 25 cents for them so spent them.
