I've been working on a PCGS Registry type set. Looking for a 3 cent silver to add to my set. I'm leaning towards a MS63 or 64 example in the early years (1851, 1852). I've been searching around for one with excellent eye appeal. I found an MS63 that I like. It seems to be better struck than the MS64's that I have looked at especially on the obverse. Finding one with clean lines in the center design even in MS condition appears to be difficult. I'd rather have a good looking MS63 than an unappealing MS64. It gets pretty pricey in MS65 and above.

Looks like the retail price for an MS63 is around $300 and $400+ for an MS64. So, not a huge difference. It jumps significantly in MS65.

When I decided to do a US Type Set I chose the NGC Registry one (1793 to 1964) as my goal.
It is more complete than any of the other type sets I'm familiar with.
For the NGC type set you need all three types of the silver Three Cent coins.
So here's what I ended up with:
-- Type 1 - 1852 in MS-61
-- Type 2 - 1858 in AU-55
-- Type 3 - 1861 in XF-45
All of my type set coins are in either PCGS or NGC slabs.

I'm not a fan of type sets so I were you I'd start a different set of something.

That's my problem, finding new sets to go for.
Obviously they would have to peak my interest.
That leaves out 20th century sets; nothing of interest there anymore to me.

I have done Lincoln cents, Indian cents, Jefferson nickels, Roosevelt dimes and Franklin halves. Type set seemed like a next pursuit.
