Hi all, Posted this in my first "welcome" post, but this may be the better spot for it. Through going through my mountain of spare change, I came across what I believe to be a pretty fine example of a 1923 Canadian small cent. I understand that these are a very rare find, and the condition here looks good. I'm very new to coins, but I'd like to know what your opinion is on this grade - I'm considering sending in to PCGS to make it official, but want to know if it's worth it. Thanks

 to CCF. A coin needs a minimum retail value after slabbing by a TPG of $150. Your coin is nice and worthy of a 2x2 holder,but not TPG worthy...IMHO. John1

There really is very little overall wear, but the crown appears to have the vertical jewels maybe with a small ding. That's normally a sure sign of the actual grade, but there is not the same amount of similar wear to the mustache, shoulder or leaves on the reverse. I think that it's EF as well, but not worth enough to pay to have it graded.

Thanks all! I'll just be keeping it safe from any further wear.

Since it was said that the crown is what determines the grade, I just wanted to make double sure, and I'm including a photo as close up as I can get with my iPhone of the crown/face. I also increased the contrast of the photo to help with poor lighting so we can see all the little fine details. Does this change anyone's opinion on the grade?

@pacificoin
I'd hate to accidentally ruin it by cleaning it. How would you approach it? I'll likely just leave it alone, but just curious what you'd recommend.

If you must clean it,use only 100% pure acetone. Not standard nail polish remover. John1
