Hi, I just won a Shield nickel in an auction but am unsure of what it would grade as or how much it would be worth. My guess is XF or maybe AU (May be pushing it). If anyone has any knowledge regarding this coin, please let me know. This is my first Shield nickel so I really do not know much about them in terms of buying and selling. Thank you ahead of time!

Whatever someone is willing to pay, especially when it comes to cleaned/details examples. I'd say $30-$40 range.

Meh. I guess that doesn't make me feel too good because I won it for $60. I should probably return it and keep on hunting for a more legit (uncleaned) example?

See what others have to say. Personally I would return, $60 seems high, you can find a better example at that price or not much more. Again, just my opinion.

I don't see signs of a harsh or improper cleaning in these images but $60 is high for the piece. The surfaces do appear to have a light dusting of whitish particles making it hard to judge. It does appear very lightly circulated.

I'd go ahead and return it if you can.

Thank you again for your responses! I truly appreciate the opinions. I will return the coin tomorrow. While it is a nice looking coin, I do consider quality in the coins I own and cleaned coins don't get very far! got too caught up in the excitement of auctioning I guess ;D

I don't think it's fair to the seller to return if it came as advertised. It is your responsibility to bid up to your comfort level, not make the seller go to all that hassle to cure your buyer's remorse.

I agree with Timh, if I was the seller and you returned an item
You won and it was as advertised, you would be a blocked buyer with a negative comment.

agree with the 2 above. those pictures are crystal clear as to what the coin is. maybe you can contact them and see if they can cancel your order before shipping it to you?

Hello, to clear it up: I haven't paid for the item yet; I see where I made it seem as if the coin is in my possession. In fact, I reached out to the seller about canceling that order but keeping the other order I had with them. I am still waiting for a response but the coin is still with them!

Additionally (and unfortunately) even if I wanted to keep the coin I CANT pay for it right now because of a stupid textbook I need for a class that I recently found out about so I am currently in a lose-lose situation ;-;
