Is the variety the 14 or 16 serration coin?

Both of them exist. The 16-serration version is less frequent based on circulated coins found in Quebec.

Take a look at my first post to get more details on stats.

Actually, I sold a 2010 14 Serrations PCGS MS-66 for $250 a couple years ago. The demand is there, certainly in the higher grades.

Hi JohnWayne007.

Bill Reid toonies : 14 serrations

-The toonies from 1996 to 2012no_security should have 16 serrations

- The toonies from 2012security to present(2020) should have 14 serrations

Varietys : 2010 toonie with 14 serrations and 2019 toonie with 16 serrations

Thanks Castor Sous for the information.

As already mentioned by john100 in a previous post, the big question is why RCM has 2 different (or changed) collars.

I only have 8 RCM toonies and 1 has 16 serrations, I do have some more but they are in 2x2's so I will do that later.

All of my 2019 D Day colour and plain total 53 had 14 serrations.

I only have 1 2010 with 14 serrations out of 11 MS coins.

Just got two of the 16 serration toonies in change today. I'm in B.C. if you are tracking locations.

I just found out about the 2019 variety a month ago while researching $2 coins on another site. I collect the $2 coin and have the 2010 variety so I was interested. I had set aside I think about 7 of the 2019 $2 coins found in change as I like to hold a few and then pick out the best one for my collection.

It turned out that one of the coins was the variety so I put it in my album; picked the best regular 2019 for my album, and put the rest into pocket change. That is a small sample size, but it works out to 14% and I am in Calgary.

Just went to the bank and got 20 rolls of $2 coins (Calgary). Was looking for 2020s (found none), but checked out the 2019s. There were 11. Four were the 16 serrations variety, which is 36%.

If I combine that with my last batch of one out of seven, that makes 5 of 18 or 28%.
