Fresh out of the ground from 4" depth last Saturday 9/12 on eastern Long Island, NY. Weighing in at 7.93 g and not even rinsed off with water. Unfortunately a thin planchet at top of obverse also resulted in weak strike at the date. But I post this for the clarity of Britannia's face and branch which quite often are either poorly stuck and\or worn smooth.

Great example. How do you plan to conserve it?

I won't make any effort to clean or conserve it, most likely will list on ebay or sell locally. I am not a collector per se. I am a photographer and catalog my finds while creating artistic images of them.

Super coin Detectorist! Amazing to see something so old unearthed from the ground in such nice condition. What is your ebay name? I get you can't advertise your stuff for sale yet until you have 250 posts, but please email me at least. I'd like to keep an eye out for something like this one.

Very Nice Detectorist!. I just got my Equinox 800 and have put in my presets after watching countless videos. I'm taking it out for my first real dig to the 2nd oldest farm in RI for a Pound the Ground event in early October. If I found a copper or rather a Machin's Mills that came out of the ground like that...my day would be made.

Better than most of the typical coppers from the ground, with a little bit of history too! Certainly a keeper

Happy hunting with the Nox 800 it's a worthy machine. As a member of the George Washington Club by virtue of finding this Inaugural button last year, I will say that I have found several nice colonial coppers in good condition.

I'm hoping to find my own GW Inaugural button with the 13 interlocking states.."Long Live The President". That's a very nice find though!

One of my big goals is to find a Fugio. This 1798 Draped Bust find I made demonstrates that good coppers are in the mix from even 6" deep. I am getting my 15" coil tomorrow and excited to go over my hunting grounds.

The Machins is a 1787 coin, obv 17 paired with rev 87B. Don't know the Vlack number.
The draped bust is a S-167

A Fugio would be an amazing find. That's real American history. I'm still on the hunt for an affordable one that I can pull the trigger on. Did just get Alan Kessler's Book "The Fugio Cents" last week. I really wish the 1976 prices were still good from the book, common examples in extra fine are under $300. I wish!
