Hi, what do you think about the double eagle shown in the video? Is it fake or genuine? And if it's genuine, what grade would you give it?

Thank you for your reply! Wow, I made a great deal if this coin is in fact genuine and MS-65. Bought it from a coin shop in Germany at around 5% over spot :D any other opinions on this coin?

I'll say without a doubt one of the nicest saints I've ever had the pleasure of viewing, and I've seen the 33 double eagle. Outstanding strike and luster!

@GrapeCollects: Wow, I didn't expect that answer! But I am a little bit worried about it being fake, are you sure it's real?

@jbuck: Thanks :)

65 + Wonderful Lustre for a 1924 Philadelphia
Genuine in my opinion .
This is a European Bank Hoard date .
I do cringe when I see people handle a coin like that .
Lose the gloves and hold it over a soft surface .
Even TPG graders do not wear gloves .

@Pacificoin I'm wearing the gloves because I don't like fingerprints ;)

Should I send the coin for grading? From my research, a 1924 MS 65 double eagle is worth a lot more than the 5% over spot I paid...
What is a realistic price for such a coin?

It looks real, does it weigh okay? I would say MS64+ to 65 for me as well, a really nice looking example, with great luster. As Pacificoin said a common date in European bank stashes. Dealer Fred Weinberg used to make the trip monthly to pick up literally 100's of them at a time from the Swiss bankers in the 1970-80's. He has some great stories to tell and hope he writes a book someday.

GrapeCollects - That 1933 isn't all that nice looking, most decent Saint's would probably look better side by side against it (the legal one anyways not so sure how all the Langboard examples stack up). It is rare though other than that it's not a very good looking Saint overall. I was very unimpressed when I finally got to see it myself, rarity not withstanding, it just looked like an average mid grade bullion Saint to me.

You're not wrong, it's not all that impressive in terms of eye appeal, but an impressive coin in different regards.

Thank you for your estimates! I'm now thinking about submitting the coin to NGC or PCGS but the problem is that I live in Germany... does anyone now how it works?
