there are errors that would make a modern coin that valuable, but I can almost promise this guy does not have them. In fact, my money would be on whatever coins he has not being errors at all and him just being a complete loon. If this was at a coin shop, shouldn't the owner be well enough versed to look at the coins and pretty easily assess whether or not there might be some validity to the claim? Obviously, more tests might need to be run to prove that the coins *were* thousand-dollar errors, but confirming that they are definitely not errors should be much more likely and much easier for someone with even a little experience.
