Hello, First I must disclose this is not my coin, I have an 80 year old friend that asked me to help organize her late fathers coins. This is a very badly damaged 1944-D LWC. My eyesight isn't what it used to be, so even wearing glasses I usually need a loop also to identify small dates and MM, thus how I noticed, or think I noticed, something different. To me, where PMD seems to have scraped or gouged back a portion of the D MM, it seems to have revealed an S MM under it. Closer microscopic views also seem to show a worn or faded S MM separately below the main MM as well. I know the coin suffers massively from PMD, but I couldn't let it go without at least getting some other eyes seeing it and giving me thoughts and assessments. If it is a S MM Under the D MM, would you recommend it getting graded even in this poor condition? If not, I'll just footnote it and move on. Thank you in advance for your time and comments. Have a wonderful day! Thanks again for looking!

Just damage to the original mint mark and "animal shapes in the clouds".

Quote: Is it to early for a drink? Its 2020. There is no such thing as too early for a drink.

I agree it's not a mint variety, only PSD. Too much damage on this one. The remnants of the Denver MM that wasn't scraped away, is what you are seeing as the base of an underlying "S" MM and the top is part of the damage as well.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

When you are drinking and the next day you look over the big doubled die you found the previous night, then you will know how beer can affect you. Look at this coin for a bit.
