1972 S Doubled Die Obverse / DDO Lincoln Penny?

Very desirable and easily recognized because he designed them all to be read in a mirror so he wouldn't be persecuted for designing currency for a country that didn't exist yet. This one has been drawn with Machine Doubling, not a doubled die. If you read his notes, it should say "raddoppio meccanico" somewhere. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 10/01/2020 9:19 pm A doubled die has the doubling on the die, transferred to the coin during the strike. On a normal die the normal sized devices will be transferred to the coin. After the strike each types of coin can be altered with Machine Doubling. Yes, even doubled dies can have Machine Doubling. So they issue is caused by the machine altering the coins after the strike. That means those areas are damaged by the machine after the strike. So this event is common. Report this Post to the Staff
