I don't plan on making a habit of buying too many commemorative and/or colorized coins, but I was really digging this design and thought that having color really made sense in this case. I haven't had any colorized coins until just recently and I have to say, I am disappointed in this one because it is essentially a sticker on a piece of metal. I wasn't aware that it has no relief. Others that I have received seem to be more like enamel accents within the design which is much more appealing. Oh well, I still think it looks cool, but I will be more selective in the future. Quote: I am disappointed in this one because it is essentially a sticker on a piece of metal. I wonder if it was too problematic/expensive for the RCM to add colour over an engraved design? The same approach was used on the silver collector coin, so I'm not surprised to see the shortcut used on the circulation coin as well.

Yes that is a nice addition I'm still looking for mine. Did you know that for 2020 there is another toonie as well the 75th Ann. of WW2 in colour and plain which I think looks nicer, sorry I have not taken any pics of mine yet.

Because on the coloured one, there are other elements of the relief, and painted only 'V' and the torch. It doesn't look like round sticker all over a core. Actually nice coin.

Gigit was king enough to get me a few as he makes the rounds of the banks.

That should read that Gigit was "kind" enough to get me a few. He's a very nice guy.

orange was never a color used by West Coast Native Americans,
black and red, and rarely black and blue, were the colors of choice,
sorry mint_ca ... you totally blew it...

sorry mint_ca ... you totally blew it... I believe the 'orange' you are seeing is just the camera. The coloring on my coin in hand looks bright red with black and white, not orange. The coloring in the Mint's images on their website and collector card are more accurate (although not perfect).

jazzy is correct. The color on the coin is actually bright red, not orange.

The Grizzily Bear is a bit more impressive on a larger coin.
