I see people selling coins for 1.00 and free shipping on ebay. How can you do that? With the ebay, paypal fees, and the shipping fees how can they make money. Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Last time I shipped a coin it cost me over two dollars.

if they are doing that, they won't be doing it for long, not a good business model.

It costs 55 cents to mail a coin USPS letter rate, so I guess if you're selling coins for a dollar that are worth about a quarter, you can break even after fees.

Here's a listing I'm eyeballing that started today with a 99-cent minimum bid.

Here are several hundred Buy it Now coins for sale at $1.00 with free shipping. I don't see anything worth more than a dime. Guess it's a volume business model.

Just as Zurie says they are "Buy It Now" auctions at .99 cent or 1.00. I am curious so I bought three coins today from 3 different sellers. It came to a total price including shipping 3.47 cent. I want to see how these come in the mail. I will follow up on this post if anyone is interested, but they won't be here till late next week.

I mentioned reporting back on the three coins I purchased for 3.45. I have received two so far and as a lot of people said they came in a regular envelope, one stamp and were wrapped in a thin piece of cardboard or heavy paper. So yes they may make a few cent on each coin. I think the "Collecting lots of feedback answer is correct".

The original question was about Buy it Now coins selling for $1.00 with free shipping, not auctions that start at 99 cents. I agree that buying cheap positive feedback is the likely explanation.

My bad. I must have been asleep at the switch...totally missed the "Buy It Now" implied in the original post.
