Hello,

I am receiving this coin from my grandfather who had mentioned it as a Charles II crown having been passed down from ancestors. It is in somewhat rough shape so I am looking for input from those with an experienced eye to help identify this if possible. Thank you very much in advance.

Looks like George III, design is a Spade guinea. Is it gold?

Definitely not a Charles II crown.

It appears to be a gaming token made to imitate a George III Spade Guinea. These were very popular in Victorian times. Although not of great value, the tokens are quite collectable and some people try to get as many different types as possible.

Please could you advise the diameter and weight of your coin?

A genuine Spade Guinea looks like this:

Thank you both, especially NumisRob for the speedy and informative replies. I had some confusion with this and another coin which is the actual crown he had been referring to. I am learning lots about these tokens I had no prior knowledge of; there was a separate token in the group with victoria on the obverse and the double-headed eagle on the reverse. Learning lots along the way, so thank you for the enlightenment! I will correct the subject to reflect this new information
