I found this 2000 Canadian cent and not knowing a lot about Canadian coinage I have a question concerning far and near beads on the obverse of this cent. The beads are far from the rim and when I went to CoinsandCanada the picture of the obverse shows the beads to be close. I then went to Numista and looked at a 1999 Canadian cent and the beads were far. Am I just in the possession of a run of the mill 2000 Canadian cent? The fourth pic was borrowed from CoinsandCanada and the fifth pic was borrowed from Numista.

Optical illusion - look at the thickness of the rim. The difference is the strength of the collar die strike.

Try measuring the distance to the beads from a known point inside the coin (e.g., the legend or a point on the Queen).

Ah, I understand exactly what you're meaning. It is an optical illusion. Most definitely the strength of the collar strike created the illusion. Thank you for the lesson learned!
