For those of you who purchase the Presidential US Mint rolls, what is the common grade of those coins? I have no interest in those coins but have several rolls and ask because I see over on Numismedia that MS 62s run roughly $2/coin therefore a roll theoretically would be ~$50 minus say 20% or ~$40. If that's the case that would seem to be a pretty good return. Thanks.

The 2.00 price at Numismedia does not take into account shipping, fees for Paypal, fees for online auctions etc. It is the price you would likely pay when at a show or in hand, or without considering all those things. Check ebay SOLD auctions for a better picture of what to expect ~33.00 depending on the coin in the roll. If you were thinking of sending them all off to be graded in hopes of getting a good one, the price to do so is way too high. Also, at least I have read numerous times on this forum over the years, it is not likely to find a coin better than MS63 in a bank roll. The coins, when made, fall into a bin after being struck and so most end up with marks.

Thanks for the reply. After mulling it over and looking at ebay sales, time and cost, it seems like the most efficient option is to simply cash out at the bank.

Yes that $2 figure you see is what I refer to as the "Dealer Nuisance Charge". Meaning the coin isn't really worth over face value put the dealer has costs to holder it, inventory it, and has to make some profit on it. So that is the fee he has to charge for the nuisance of handling it and making it available to collectors.

Well, might as well go through them and pick the best example(s) to save before dumping the rest imho.

Good point jbuck. In my case I was either given rolls or picked them up thinking my kid or I would have an interest, but it just isn't there, so now I need to do something with them. Maybe Offer on Craigslist fir a $5 premium.
