Hey my name's beckedup and I've just started to get into coin collecting so I'm new. I found a 1973 penny with a thicker rim on the left side of the front and the back has a open AM. Is this a normal error or something to look for? Thank y'all!

to the CCF! It would be most helpful if you could post pics of your cent. There is a tutorial that you can use in uploading pics. As far as the Wide AM, it is normal for that year.

Well look at more of the cents from that year. They all look like that. I feel they were trying to fix the issues they had on the 1968-1972 cents with so many Machine Doubling issues. Well they solved it by a stronger strike. So they are all that way. The Close AM started in 1993:
