I found a 2006 quarter today that might be a Dryer Coin? I thought it was an error. I gotta go reduce all these pictures to post. But my question is this? Has anybody yet compared weights?
I noticed on this 2006 Nevada quarter very smooth edge with no reeding, raised lip on both sides, about 1mm smaller diameter than it should be but still weighs exactly 5.66 grams as its supposed to?
Since the coins are altered but the rim being "rolled" up by beating the edge, the weight likely should be the same.
A coin with a raised rim like this also may be from "spooning," which is someone deliberately using a spoon or other object to raise the rim to make a ring:
