Pics are slightly out of focus. I question the toning a bit in this but I'm guessing NGC passed it into a straight holder (PCGS probably would have given it Questionable Color based on my experience with them lately). Solid MS-65, shot at a 66 WITHOUT the cheek hits. Those bring it down to MS-64 IMO, fields look clean! MS-64.

The hits on the cheek are pretty distracting. Not a fan of the toning. If toned I like subtle vs "in your face" type color. Regardless I am not seeing enough "ugly" for MS62 grade. I will jump in at MS63 as I believe I see some more hits on the date.

Is that in fact a gash across the cheek?

i cant see them slabbing this one at MS65 with that cheek hit and I dont think they would knock it two points for that so I'm at MS64. not a huge fan of the color but it is a nice sharp strike

Too blurry to evaluate reasonably.

The blurring is unfortunate, but I can't fix it. I cropped the pics close around the coin and it expanded to fit the screen. I could post original size photos with the label cropped off, but if you expand them yourself to check details you're going to have the same problem. Since I actually LIKE toners, I read quite a bit about toned Indian cents; apparently some feel that these toners just suddenly appeared on the market when Morgan toners started getting huge premiums at auctions. But I've seen some "old holder" graded toners, which would contradict that argument. There's definitely a surge of graded toners but I think that's because dealers are having them graded more to inspire buyer confidence. (Of course, there's also the possibility that some sly people have found ways to AT these coins that the TPG's can't spot.) Also, it seems to me that many of the most colorful toners also happen to be proofs and high-MS coins—maybe I'm wrong but it seems crazy to tamper with coins at that level—they're worth quite a few bucks at MS or PR 64 and above, and if it's spotted as AT, you'd lose quite a bit of that value. Anyway, yes, Coinfrog, that is an actual slice on the cheek, rather than some kind of photographic artifact or damage to the plastic. There's a pic on the grader's page for the coin and it's visible there as well.

I'll say MS-62, and lean toward straight. Usually best to wait 48 hours to reveal grade so everyone gets a chance to chime in.
