Im not expert in ancient coins , but I think this is a byzantine follis , depicting jesus christ on the observe.

It looks like Romanus III, 1028-1034 AD, with the reverse upside down.

This appears to be a Class B Anonymous Follis attributed to Romamnus III, these were usually overstruck on other coins as this appears to be on the reverse. Sear # 1823.
