Recently, a person wrote to me on WhatsApp with an offer to buy 1 cent of 1972 from him. I did not see anything valuable in this coin and refused him, to which he replied that he saw how such coins cost $ 1 million.
Is it true that a 1 cent coin from 1972 can cost $1 million?

I have no doubt a common 1972 Lincoln Cent has been listed for $1,000,000.00 somewhere on the internet. In fact, we have a thread dedicated to listings like that on this site.

When I'm in a mood, I string these guys along. I tell them I'll give them $600,000 and mess with them for a while.

I just found a 1969 D, I'll trade him that 1 for the 1972. Since the 69d is older it's got to be worth more :)

Reminds me of the 'bank worker' from a different continent who has $200 million to move, and is curious if you could assist, and get a cut for your efforts.

If the guy had a million dollar coin, he'd be working with an auctioneer, not contacting people randomly over the internet.

The person that contacted you is a scammer.

I can only think of 3 US coins worth $1 million. 1913 V nickel, 1849 $20 gold, and an 1804 $1 silver dollar. I'm sure there are a few others from back then. The only valuable 1972 Lincoln Cent is the double die obverse currently selling for about $300.00.

Now imagine if you had a roll of those. Any coin selling for that would not be just sold anywhere.

Only if it was struct in 24kt gold by error at the U.S. mint and authenticated by a top tier TPG'er as being a genuine mint error .

Agree with others, it's a scam.
