I found this 1984 Lincoln Memorial penny with a number 8 stamped above Lincoln's eye and a number 4 above it in his hairline. I am new to collecting pennies and I don't know a lot about them I was just wondering if this is a common error? The penny has been circulated and has some damage should I have it graded and would it be worth anything?
I see a circulated, stained, and zinc rot infected coin--given the photo posted. Larger, sharp images of the coin's obverse and reverse would be very welcome. Not seeing any minting errors.
More of a split plating issue. If a straight pin punctures the plating, then zinc rot starts. The countdown has already started ticking down on this coin. Note the damage on the edge. Spend it now before it eventually disappears from existence.
