What isn't supposed to be there? If you mean the mint mark, that is exactly where it's supposed to be on any nickel minted 1964 or earlier.

Not certain what is not supposed to be there. It appears to be just a well-worn nickel. Titles are important, as are descriptions.

To CCF , mint marks were on the reverse of all Jefferson nickels from 1938 to 1964 and some 1975's. 1965 to 1967 had no mint marks .1968 to 1974 hade mint marks on the obverse . Nickels from 1976 to 2020 had mint marks on the obverse .

I see damage (ring shaped scratch) from a coin roll wrapping machine that has faded from further circulation.
