Hey everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a while. I recently came across a 1958 D cent that weighs in at 2.5 grams. The coin is thinner in diameter than a normal cent. There is no acid damage or filing marks on the coin. I know there is a thing on here to not post bad photos and to post more than one photo and I seem to have broken that rule. :( lol Here's a picture

Our only request here is not to have too many redundant photos. Generally we like to see both sides of your coin and a close-up or two of any areas in question. Sharp, well cropped photos are best and draw the most responses. We need to see your cent closer so we may see the surface clearer. As far as it's weight, 2.5 g is a little low, but not too far off from mint tolerances.

@sic, could be a thin planchet, but close-up pics would definitely help us. This is the best that I can do with what you have supplied so far:

Could we see a large, sharp pic of the reverse of the OP's coin, please.

I have just founded a coin exactly like the one posted. So it's not any damage, same year, same mint mark, two coins weighing 2.5 grams. It seems the mint was up to something back in those days

so, I'm confused here, the OP states it is a 1958 that weighs 2.5 grams, but Spence managed to zoom in your coin (he had to 'cause your image is so small and not that good) and the Spence zoomed in coin from the OP is a 1992 D - Which SHOULD weigh 2.5 grams. Where is my confusion? well - where is this 1958 cent?

@Dearborn I think it is a 1958-D cent, just hard to read due to zoomed-in blurriness. It does look like something happened to this coin as mentioned above - PMD and not at the mint.

Quote: @Dearborn I think it is a 1958-D cent, just hard to read due to zoomed-in blurriness. No, it really appears to be a 1992 D cent. I just took the OP's coin myself and zoomed in to see it better, and the 3rd digit is a 9 not a 5.

To CCF Vwhite7! If you can make a separate thread and post pictures, that would be great.
