Hello all, I am new to the forum. I came across this 1973 dime with an odd looking mint mark. At first glance I thought it was a Denver mint mark but on closer examination it looked more like an O. I assume it could be a damaged coin where the D now looks like an O but wanted your opinion of what it could be. I know 1973 dimes were only minted at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Fransisco mints but I was just curious if this is an error or just a damaged coin. Thank you for any feedback.

@klee, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with @keith that the D mintmark has taken a hit and is now somewhat flattened and mis-shapen.

Added: Also, I strongly recommend flattening out the staples on all of your 2x2s so that they don't accidently scratch an adjacent coin.
