Could This Coin Be A NY Manchins Mill Colonial?

I have a 1787 Connecticut copper cent in just slightly better condition and I can relate to many of the distinguishable details in yours. Many of the 1788 Connecticut varieties are attributed to the Machin's mint. Interestingly I found 2 1788 2-D Connecticut coppers [one of the varieties attributed to Machin's mill] metal detecting at an old tavern site on the Newburgh turnpike. Newburgh NY was the location of the Machin mint. Report this Post to the Staff

I grew up in that area but never knew Newburgh had that mint. I recall as a kid I found that Very worn CT copper coin (probably about 5-10 miles from mill site) so I thought it maybe came from Manchin but more likely just dropped by some early colonist!
