Sorry about the sloppy pics. I have a 3mp cell phone camera. I broke my zoom on my other camera. I will try better next time.

Just messin' with ya. Still, sorta hard to make a call. I'll give you credit for trying to shoot a coin with a cell phone! If you ever need a rec on a good digicam for coin pics, let me know.

Looks like coin damage. Would need a far better photo to see what you're talking about.

The hole doesn't look like damage. It's shape matches the roof line (gutter). I will try some better angles of it. Kurt should I buy a USB microscope I know they are not to much or spen a lot on a nice camera? I would rather spend the money on coins. He he I'm so hooked on these coins now thanks guys. Here is the best I can do for a picture with this samsung cell phone

Shane, The USB scopes have their limitations, but overall work well for capturing small details. Cost-effective too, as the QX5 is around $90 compared to $500 alone for my Nikon macro lens (without camera body) Several downsides to the QX5 are lighting/contrast issues and narrow field of view (you won't be able to shoot a whole LMC). Then again, it's relatively cheap. PM me if you'd like more info.

I agree with Kurt on the QX5; it shows great closeups but the supplied light is really bad, and I still have issues with lighting coins with it. When I display a coin here to show the full coin I use the Super Macro setting on my Fuji Finepix S700 and use the QX5 for closeups.

cnd, on my QX5 I scotched taped a piece of plastic milk carton over the ligth to help defuse it. Another trick, take a 2 x 2 and space the open end about a half inch. Use a wedge of some sort to keep it apart. I used a quarter 2x2, this doesn't distort the pictures and further helps with the lighting. Takes a little practice and you can turn the till you get the shot you want.

Thanks for that info on that stuff. I will put the QX5 on my list for santa to look at. LOL But I think I have been bad so I just might have to buy it myself. Where is a good place to purchase one? E-bay right. It would be vary cool for forum dad bobby to sell them with his other stuff (shirts, ect)Like to keep my money here or if someone here sells these or has a friend that has a store that does?

Thanks for the tips on the QX5, MorgansRMine! I will experiment with that later today and see what I come up with.

Another trick with the lighting is turn off the cameras light and use a non-led light source.

The DDR is obvious and is listed at coneca ( DDR 1-R-Y111) but as to the roof error I have a hard time believing it is mint post mint damage as I can see it better in my hand then in these pictures and I have seen a lot of damaged coins. I'm almost sure the roof error is either a laminate starting to peal or a strike through. It is a hole with no edges around it and runs straight with the roof line. Its like a seem break for the roof design. I guess the only way to find out whats it's true error is to send it to Ken Potter to take a look at it and not try to judge it by my poor pictures.
