Can someone please help me ID this ASE coin. It passes sigma test, passes weight test, passes magnet test. The Mint did not make a reverse proof in 2002. They only released a Proof in business strike but it has a reverse proof finish. I can't find it anywhere. Thanks in advance.

Its possible to polish a whole coin then laser the portions you want frosted. Not saying thats what you have, just that it is possible.

In 2002 the mint only released a W proof. Since you have no mint mark, it's most likely a bullion some one in the secondary market reverse proofed.

That's my guess as well. Just like the antiqued, blackened, colorized versions you see from some of the online retailers.

I personally like how it looks, but agree it looks to be after market someone did to a bullion. Might get a few bucks over spot from someone who would appreciate the "work" done on it.

That's a coin a poker player would likely buy to use to protect their cards when playing a live game.

it's not completely reverse proof either, they didn't do the lettering.

My opinion, the lady liberty on the obverse and the eagle on the reverse were probably plated with platinum and polished up.
the new fad is to black out the background with Ruthenium and then gold plate the lady and the eagle, it used to be just to gold plate the lady and the eagle,

Just a guess here but in my opinion it's a good guess.
They are doing them in yellow gold, rose gold, platinum, colorized, "iced", antiqued,hologram-ed,
whatever you can think of, then they sell it for $100 or more to someone that thinks it's fancy.
