Found a 1935 Canadian cent today. We don't get a whole lot of Canadian coins in Oklahoma, so I thought it was pretty cool.

Posted this in another forum to get some help on what caused the impression on the reverse. Thought I would post it here also, nothing real special, but looks cool.

The impression on the reverse is a die clash,in the shape of Lincoln. It is caused when the dies hit together with no planchet between them and they make an impression on each other.

Finished off a $50 bag from the bank. Pretty much average. About 28% copper. 25 wheats all 40's and 50's. Only 9 canadian coppers. But I decided to go through the zinc rejects this time. Mostly because none of the banks are open to dump them...and I'm not using the coinstar and take the 9% hit! I've tried posting that I'm looking to sell my zinc rejects from my copper hoarding...no takers. So, this is what I found just in the zincs...haven't look at the coppers yet except for a few 1970 S mints that kinda stood out and caught my eye....big tease...all large date. Well I got 2 WAMS, a 1998 and a 2000. Both are in good condition but a bit toned dark. Next I got a really cool die break Starting at 12 o'clock and goes right through the "E" in "WE" and into Abes hair only to turn towards his forehead. This was a sharp looking coin, too! I'll get a picture later. Next would be 20 or so possible cents with "trails". Still researching the die markers but I think a good 10 I ID'd at work last night. And last was a bunch of 2009 Abe's with all 4 represented pretty good! Most were from the Philly mint.

Jprine, I think the reverse of your wheatie is showing die wear. It looks similar to a die clash but is a softer image than the sharp image of a die clash. You will see this on dies that are late die state. The pressure of striking all of those coins caused this reverse die to wear more opposite the highest points of the obverse die which is the field. This gives the soft image of the bust on the reverse.

Hoosier, What bank gives you 50 dollar bags? My TD bank and Provident are both open until 5pm on sunday.

Nice find! It's a MAD die clash with a very worn reverse die! Do you have a full picture of the obverse?

The 55 is neither, it's Die Deterioration Doubling, common.

This 55 looked like it might have some slight doubling, but the picture probably isn't good enough to tell.
