I don't think my eyes could take looking at every coin with a loupe. I searched cwr's one time just once lol for about 6 hours straight looking at almost every coin and when I stopped I was dizzy/motion sick from going from the loupe to no loupe never again.

That's why I use a 5x, less strain. I also keep both eyes open unless I spot something.

Maybe the 10x is too much for me ill have to down grade lol

Did $10 worth the last few days and I got some goodies 2 Wheats in one roll a 36 and a 35-D also got a 54-S, 51-S x2, and a 44. In Canadian I got 94, 65, 60, 82 x2, 70, 51, 75, and an 85. Happy Hunting Everyone!
I also got a Penny in a Dime roll.

A 10x would kill me. Check out a Bausch and Laumb 5x, it has a bigger field of view. I use a 10x if I really need to get up close and personal and its lit by an led.

5x?,10x? Heck I use a 16x (60x mini microscope for details). I have time at work ,while my machine does it's thing,to search coins.The only thing that makes me "dizzy" is the 2009"log cabin" cents.

I found a couple 2009 extra finger errors the log cabin is to small for me to stare at to find a different stone on the cabin lol

Hey guys.....first time on this thread. I'm searching canadian pennies for my album and pulling copper ** Earmuffs ** for melt. Now I've been pulling all my american copper pennies and putting them aside and also pulling all the wheat cents and putting them in their own spot. The question I have is what do with I do with them? I have no interest in collecting them so they are worth more to someone else. I know that the wheat cents sell for more than face and that there are like 4 key dates (rare or scarce) to watch out for. I dont understand why the wheats are woth .15 a pop ish, unless I'm wrong, in which case, please correct me.
As for everything else up to 1981, not sure if there is any value there aside from melt. Havent found out anything in my searches online that would suggest otherwise.
My search of CCF only pulled up this thread and I dont feel like looking through 510 pages of threads to find the answers. If you guys can tip me off a bit here it would be greatly appreciate and a huge time saver for me. I know that explaining again when I'm sure youve done it already in the past is a pain in the butt and feel like you're a broken record but your knowledge of these coins, values and venues of unloading them would actually be really greatly appreciated! Samsnate, I think you will get a much better answer to your question if you simply start your own thread regarding this in the general coin forum. As you know there are many variables that contribute to the numismatic value. Start one up, I'll keep an eye out for it, and reply there.

Ive only gone through about 15 boxes, I've been saving all the pre-1982 but I'm about to stop because its taking too much space and I'm not sure its worth it.

Sam, I agree with joe, start up another thread with your question and I'm sure many responses will be had. Just as a quick note I usually sell lots of $11 face value (the rolls fit nicely in flat rate shipping boxes) of copper cents on ebay so I never worry about having a surplus to stack somewhere. |
